  • 2024
    • Jan: Youngchan, Anna and Alejandro attend the SPIE Photonics West in San Francisco, US.
    • Jan: Konstatin joined the group as a research fellow in experimental quantum biology. 
  • 2023
    • Nov: Youngchan and Alejandro attended the Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) engieering biology demo event at Kia Oval, London, to present our recent progress on quantum biotechnology on magentic field sensing. 
    • Sept: Youngchan is starting a new postion as Editor-in-Cheif of the new speciality section on quantum biology and biophotonics in Computational and Structural Biotechnology Journal at Elsevier. http://csbj-qbio.org/
    • Sept: Ian and Callum joined the group as PhD students. 
    • Sept: Cat attended an online outreach event in Brazil as a panelist and spoke about "Introduction to Quantum Biology".
    • June: Alejandro has published his first first-author paper in PCCP. Congratulations! Link.
    • June: Alejandro, Jacqueline, Cat presented their research project at the QuEBS meeting, the University of Surrey.
    • May: Eveliny Tomas Nery joined our group as a research fellow.
    • March: Cat gave a keynote presentation at the conference, Open Dialogues, The Open University. 
    • March: Alejandro, Anna, and Callum attended and gave poster presentations at the physic of life conference in the UK.
    • March: Youngchan, Alejandro, Yojana, Eve attended the 2023 quantum biology GRC meeting in the US.
    • Jan.: Callum and Jacqueline joined our group as a masters student. 
  • 2022
    • Sept.: Kenza Sackho joined our lab as a PhD student. Youngchan is a co-supervisor of her PhD project. Welcome Kenza.
    • Sept.: Youngchan has been invited to give a keynote talk in the Daesung Haegang Microbes Forums held in Seoul, South Korea, on the 20th of Sept.
    • Sept: Cat gave a talk at the conference, Open Dialogues, Univeristy of Southampton. 
    • Jun.: Anna and Alejandro gave their first poster presentations at the QuEBS 2022 Workshop on Quantum Effects in Biological Systems, June 6-10, 2022 in Heraklion, Greece. Well done.
    • Mar.: the Royal Society Research Grants awarded to Youngchan.
    • Feb.: On 9 February 2022, Youngchan was recognised on winning an ATI Research Laurette 2020/21 for his contributions to research in high impact publications such as Quantum Reports and for his contribution to the Templeton Trust grant.
    • Feb.: Catxere Casacio joined our group as a research fellow in experimental quantum biology. 
    • Jan.: Yojana Rai joined our group as a PhD student. Youngchan is a co-supervisor of her PhD project.
  • 2021
    • Dec.: Our Life on the Edge project funded by John Templeton Foundation has been started. 
    • Nov.: Alisha Brown joined our group as an undergraduate student.
    • Sept: Virginia Tsiouri joined our group as a PhD student. Youngchan is a co-supervisor of her PhD project.
    • Sept: Anna Cusick joined our group as a PhD student.
    • July: We are so excited to be part of the multidisciplinary team for the project, “Life on the Edge: quantum thermodynamics, quantum biology and the arrow of time” recently funded by the John Templeton Foundation.
    • July: The Special Interest Subgroup “Quantum Biology” has been selected as part of the program for the Cell Bio Virtual 2021 meeting – an Online ASCB|EMBO Meeting. For this special session, Youngchan is one of the co-applicants together with Clarice Aiello (UCLA) and Wendy Beane (Western Michigan University).
    • 09 April: A new femtosecond laser system (Spectra-Physics MAITAI DeepSee) is now installed at the ATI.
    • 26 March: We receive funding from the University FHMS Research Support Fund to develop time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy.
    • 20 January: Our very first paper resulted from excellent collaborations with the teams of the QB-DTC at the U. of Surrey, the U. of Manchester, the National Physical Laboratory, the U. of Exeter and the U. of Chicago (USA) has been accepted for publication in the journal Quantum Reports.
    • 20 January: Our group website is out!
